In the early 20th century, organic farming emerged as a consumer and farmer-focused alternative to industrial and chemically-driven agriculture.

Organic products are produced without the use of chemical inputs, artificial fertilizers, GMOs, or irradiation at every stage from seeds, soil, air, and water conditions to the table. They are inspected and recorded by 'Control Certification Bodies' authorized by the T.C. Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Accredited laboratories scientifically analyze and report that the products do not contain residues. At the end of these processes, producers are granted an 'Entrepreneur Certificate,' and the produced products are certified with product certificates.

Only the organic logo of the T.C. Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry can be used on products with an Organic Certificate, and these products are named 'Organic.' Legally, the term 'Organic' cannot be used for products that do not meet these criteria.

The Republic of Turkey Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry implements the Organic Agriculture Law No. 5262 and the 'Regulation on the Principles and Implementation of Organic Agriculture' (TR Standards), which was published in the official gazette No. 27676 on August 18, 2010.

What is an Organic Product:

An organic product is a certified product that has been produced in accordance with the principles of organic farming activities, either in raw, semi-finished, or finished form.

Control and Certification Bodies:

These are real or legal entities authorized by the Ministry to control and certify all stages from the production to the consumer of the organic product or input.

Conventional Agriculture:

This term refers to all agricultural activities outside of organic farming activities.

The production process, location, seeds, and conditions of conventional agriculture, which is the opposite of organic farming, are not inspected, approved, or certified by control and certification bodies authorized by the Ministry.

Partially or fully GMO-derived products containing GMOs or consisting of GMOs, food, feed, food additives, plant protection products, fertilizers, soil conditioners, seeds, microorganisms, products used for animal health, and animals cannot be used in organic farming.

All stages of organic farming activities are recorded and traceable. From seeds to land, from storage to processing facilities, from packaging materials to the transportation process, and up to sales on market shelves, they are tracked, recorded, and reported to official institutions by relevant individuals and organizations. Therefore, the term 'Organic Product' is used only for certified, inspected, and approved products.
