NOP - USA
Operators who wish to export their products to the USA must comply with the requirements of the National Organic Program, known as NOP. This is the US organic regulation published by the USDA, the United States Department of Agriculture.
Inspectors around the world approve operations according to USDA organic standards.

USA – EU Equivalence
In 2012, the European Union and the United States Department of Agriculture signed an agreement establishing the equivalence between the EU organic regulation and the NOP. The agreement includes some of the following conditions:
Animals must be produced without antibiotics; animal products derived from animals treated with antibiotics in the USA will not be eligible for export. To address this, the EU regulation 126/2012 will allow the submission of a complementary purchase certificate for indented operators, indicating these are "animal products obtained without the use of antibiotics." The availability of this certificate, or a conformity certificate containing the same statement, must be controlled across all operators in the supply chain up to the final exported product in the USA.
Products must have an NOP Import Certificate issued by a Control Body authorized by the EU.
Products must be produced either within the EU or imported into the EU in compliance with regulations 834/2007 and 1235/2008, considering packaging and shipping to the USA.
Aquatic products are excluded from the EU and USA agreement.
Operators who wish to export their products to the USA:
- Must request the NOP certificate and label their products with the NOP / USDA organic logo.
- Export their products with an equivalent import certificate.
Since Bioagricert maintains NOP / USDA accreditation, it offers both possibilities to operators.
