Livestock Production

When conducting animal production, organic feed must be used, and genetically modified organisms should not be used. The number of animals should be chosen with consideration of the land area and the comfort of the animals. Allopathic methods may be used only if no other solution can be found. Animal manure produced should not be a source of pollution. The goal is not to obtain the maximum amount of meat, milk, and eggs, but to ensure they are healthy and of good quality.

Housing:

Housing must comply with TR, EU, and NOP regulations and provide freedom of movement and comfort. Adequate bedding and temperature must be ensured. Animals must have access to clean air, direct sunlight, shade, and shelter. To prevent disease and parasites, barns must be kept clean.

Health Management:

In case of animal illness, preventive measures should be taken. If these measures are not sufficient, natural methods should be used for treatment.

Organic Management Plan:

Entrepreneurs must submit an organic management plan to the certification body before the initial inspection. This plan must be updated annually. The birth, purchase, sale, and death of animals must be recorded in a barn diary. Purchase invoices for animals, feed, and veterinary medicines should be filed. Products derived from animals should be recorded in terms of product quantities. Additionally, a bookkeeper should be employed to keep track of the sales of organic products within the farm.

Documentation and Knowledge:

Entrepreneurs must keep a copy of the relevant standards they are subject to. They should also have a certain level of technological knowledge and be familiar with organic livestock rules.
